Special K Fitness exists to provide you with education and training to achieve an independent lifestyle through individual wellness goals.

Our Story

Special K Fitness has been improving the quality of life in the Four Corners Region for more than 20 years. Kim opened Special K Fitness in September 1999 and moved into a new building on the corner of Butler and 30th Street in August 2006. 

Special K has outpatient physical therapy and an open gym for memberships. In November 2012, Kim added on to the existing building, and now Dr. Staci Noyes runs her own chiropractic business out of the new part of the building. 

We pride ourselves on being able to provide excellent individual care to our patients. Special K has a variety of therapists with varying skills and specialty areas, so we work to match you with the appropriate therapist.

Kim Noyes

Kim Noyes

Physical therapist and owner of Special K Fitness

Kim is a 1990 graduate from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy. She has been a physical therapist for 30 years and has worked in the physical therapy field for 40 years. Kim grew up in the Farmington area and was thrilled to open Special K Fitness in 1999. 

Kim’s extensive physical therapy experience includes hospital acute care, home health, nursing home long term care, skilled nursing, and outpatient. She has taught in the San Juan College in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program and currently serves on the board. She is a 2005 graduate of Leadership San Juan. 

Kim is also a member of the National American Physical Therapy Association and the New Mexico Chapter of the APTA. She is currently working on her certification in Vestibular Rehab to better meet the needs of the community, and she has recently launched Healthy Living, an evidence-based weight loss program that focuses on intensive lifestyle interventions. 

Kim is happily married, and although she doesn’t have any children of her own, she enjoys her nieces, nephews and all the great nieces and great nephews. She and her wife enjoy many outdoor activities with their dog, Bailee.

Aimee Georgina

Physical Therapist

Aimee Georgina is a recent graduate of the University of New Mexico Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. She received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of New Mexico in 2014 and completed her DPT degree in 2018. At graduation, she was recognized for her Capstone Research Project.

Her clinical and research interests include orthopedics, vestibular, neuromuscular, and athletes of all ages and ability levels. Aimee helped create and design an ACL injury prevention program for the Farmington High School girls’ soccer team, and she plans to become a certified sports specialist in the near future.

 Aimee has worked in various clinical settings including skilled nursing, acute care, and outpatient.

Jeanette Jaquez

Physical Therapist Assistant

Jeanette received her physical therapist assistant license in 2004. She is certified in Kinesio taping and is a certified clinical instructor. Jeanette became interested in physical therapy when her father was in a rehab hospital for a brain injury.

Jeanette loves her job and her patients, and feels like they are family. Jeanette and her husband have two children, both of whom graduated from college in December 2017.

Joan Manchester

Physical Therapist Assistant

Joan graduated from San Juan College physical therapist assistant program in 2008.

She has past experience as a massage therapist and felt people were not recovering from their injuries because they remained weak. This ultimately led her to her career in physical therapy. Joan is trained in strain/counter-strain manual techniques, Kinesio taping, and is a certified clinical instructor.

Joan has been married for 36 years and enjoys exploring the Southwest with her husband. They have one grown son who is an engineer.

Madalyn (Madi) Yabeny

Physical Therapist Assistant

Madalyn graduated from the San Juan College Physical Therapist Assistant Program in 2016 and is a licensed PTA. 

Madalyn’s passion for physical therapy first began with a personal experience with physical therapy during her own athletic career. During her six years as a lifeguard and water safety instructor, she began to relish in the personal journey of growth and improvement of her students. She loves watching this same journey of growth in her patients. 

Having been born and raised in the Farmington community, she understands the values and priorities of her patients in the Four Corners area. Madalyn enjoys swimming, a variety of athletics, the outdoors, traveling and time with family and beloved pets.

MacRussell (Mac) Laux

Physical Therapist Assistant

Mac graduated from the San Juan College Physical Therapist Assistant Program in 2015.

He was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States at the age of ten. He lived in Barrow, Alaska, for a year and later moved to Farmington. Mac’s interest in physical therapy began when one of his friends experienced a shoulder injury.

He graduated from Piedra Vista High School in 2011 and has remained close to his culture and continues to speak his native language, Tagalog. Mac enjoys spending time with family and friends, working out, sports, art, and movies.

Steven Hunt

Steven Hunt

Physical Therapist Assistant

Steven is a Farmington native and graduated from the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at San Juan College in May of 2014. His interest in Physical Therapy started after injuring his shoulder playing high school football. After graduating, he spent nearly a year at Special K before moving to St Louis, Missouri. There he worked for a chain of Outpatient Physical Therapy companies. In the Spring of 2018, Steven moved back to the Southwest as he missed the things that meant most to him: family, friends, and great food.

Working at Special K Fitness gives him an opportunity to help others recover, return to their daily activities, and improve sports performance with one-on-one treatment. He specializes in shoulder injuries, total knee replacements, personal training, and therapeutic exercise. Steven is an avid weight lifter and runner. He also enjoys shooting guns, hunting, camping, walking his chihuahuas, and spending time with friends and family.
